Alberta Highways had compacting soil issues leaving important structural parts exposed. Limited access prevented conventional concrete solutions. FillFoam Canada extended the vertical culvert with light gauge metal sheeting to create a tube around the I-beam, then void-filled with FillFoam™ to protect the beam while allowing required flexibility and movement. Two 1-inch access holes at the top allowed complete filling. The two-man crew completed the job in 1 day—a project that would have taken weeks with conventional methods and required deconstructing existing overpasses.
